Alice Temperley has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by the Queen in the 2011 Honours List.
The British designer, 35, who is famed for her quintessentially feminine dresses, follows in the footsteps of Luella Bartley, Amanda Wakely and Stephen Jones who all made the list in 2010.
Somerset born, and with a family in the cider business, Temperley’s ambition took her to the big smoke, where she graduated from both the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins before launching her own label in 2000.
This year also sees Temperley of London celebrating their 10th anniversary by coming home again to show at London Fashion Week as opposed to previous seasons in New York amongst other places.
Other fashion personalities to be honoured this year include famed ’80s slogan t-shirt maestro Katherine Hamnett, shoe designer Beatrix Ong and Tanya Sarne, founder of Ghost.
