Charlotte Free replaces Bip Ling as Forever 21 girl
Sometimes on a Monday morning you want to forget the stale air of the office, your uncomfortable ‘ergonomic’ chair, and the 200 emails you have to sift through from the weekend. Daydreaming yourself into a faraway magical land is your only option, and today our portal comes in the form of Charlotte Free.
The dreamy-faced and bubblegum-haired model has recently been announced as the new face of Forever 21, fronting their campaign ‘Love is Free’. Sporting their colourful creations, she perfectly personifies carefree youth. She replaces Motilo Girl and blogging sensation Bip Ling.
Her style is bold and beautiful. Working with her huge blue eyes and hair, which is either bright pink or a ‘strawberries and cream’ fade-out, she often dons multiple colours. She fronted the cover of Wonderland magazine last year wearing a Frankie Manello bug shirt and Christopher Kane’s SS12 rainbow pleated dress, an image that caused a flurry of Twitter love.
The rainbow seems to be one of her favourite style motifs. Her campaign for Wildfox Couture featured her in a supermarket wearing a rainbow tee, which has since become a major player in her summer wardrobe.
Even when she goes for a grunge look, she can’t help but have an injection of colour. She is often seen with one of her favourite bags, a Kreepsville 666 Eyeball handbag. It’s only $39, but that acid green eyeball makes a striking statement next to a simple monochrome look.
This sugar sweet style icon is the human equivalent of internet sensation Nyan Cat. A cute pink treat showcasing a myriad of colours, and the perfect way to cheer us up as we start the working week.
If you want to celebrate bright vibrant colours this week, why not create a look in the style of Charlotte Free? It’s a chance to prove what the model’s name suggests: that although clothes are expensive, style doesn’t cost a thing.
