This December sees the The Royal Academy of Arts presenting GSK Contemporary, the third in a series of contemporary art seasons in the prestigious Mayfair location. This time the focus on ‘Art Fashion Identity’ examines how a selection of artists and designers explore clothing as a tool of communication and personal expression. With work by Maison Martin Margiela, Alexander McQueen and Yoko Ono to name but a few of the 30 strong line up, this is truly something not too miss.

Hussein Chalayan’s work is a highlight, inspired by the 300 year old Japanses tradition of Bunraku puppet theatre, the dress itself is projected onto a mannequin along with moving eyes; an altogether eery yet stunning effect. Whilst Susie MacMurry has created the ultimate juxstaposition between invitation and warning with her beautiful gown made entirely of pins – smooth yet lethal.

CSK Contemporary – Aware: Art Fashion Identity takes place at the Royal Academy of Arts, 6 Burlington Gardens, and runs from the 2nd December till the 30th January.
