English National Ballet summer party auction
Tomorrow night, 29th June 2011, is the English National Ballet’s summer party at The Orangery, Kensington Palace and there’s a spectacular designer costume auction to go along with the champagne sipping.
Ten designers including Christian Louboutin, Erdem, Roksanda Ilincic, House of Worth, Giles Deacon and Agent Provocateur have contributed one-off couture tutus to the auction, which raises money for the ballet. Quite the thing to turn up to your exercise class in, no?
If you weren’t content with taking home an exquisite piece of costuming, guests can also pick gifts from the Lantern Tree, including Mulberry handbags and Erickson Beamon jewellery. You will also take home a goody bag stuffed full of amazing gifts.
Our picks of the costumes, for wearability let alone general gorgeousness, are Roksanda Ilincic’s draped and feathered piece and Agent Provocateur’s long chiffon skirt and lace bodice. For non-wearability, our pick is the pair of preposterous Christian Louboutin pointe shoes. If you happen to be the winning bidder on these bejewelled pieces of sculpture, let us know, we want to come round to yours and fondle them.
Tickets are £150 and available to one and all.
The silent auction is now open – download the catalogue here. If you can’t attend, place a silent bid on any of these pieces by emailing support@ballet.org.uk
