Buy of the day: Glam knuckledusters

It used to be that the knuckleduster was the domain of fist fighters and street hooligans. Not anymore. The knuckleduster has been liberated from its nefarious domain and now walks proudly on the fists of the elegant and enviable.

Statement jewellery starts conversations, and a whole handful of rings could be your way of breaking the ice in your next awkward social moment. Possibly even literally.

In the high end department, Alexander McQueen – always one for attending some derring do to fashion – features a knuckleduster on an otherwise basic clutch. Cheeky. The ring is also sold separately at Browns. Dominic Jones does a fierce rose gold-plated number with two horns that sit over your surrounding fingers. Roar.

In the mid-range, Meadowlark do two slick knuckledusters, one smooth, the other studded. They’re rather the understated cousins in this double-digit trend. While fellow New Zealand jewellers Zoe & Morgan make a saucy curling snake that sits across your four fingers.

If you can’t see yourself committing to the long-term, there are some rather cost effective little gems to snap up. Nastygal.com offers a crystal-encrusted double-digit ring and Etsy, that questionable source of handmade bibs and bobs has quite a few excellent inexpensive styles.
