Laid back Luxe

3.1-Phillip-Lim,-AW13

Fashion week is over. We know it’s hard to believe, and there have been moments of sheer panic when it’s been 7.30pm on a weekday and we realise that there is truly nothing in our diary, and that we can indeed catch up on our favourite TV programmes while eating Revels out of a cereal bowl.

The thing is, for the truly fashion focussed, even relaxing has to be on trend. Well, in the privacy of your own bedroom, nobody is going to judge the re-earthing of your favourite Loony Toons pyjamas, worn with fleece slippers. That’s your call. However if you’re meeting a bunch of friends for an obscenely late brunch, there has to be a bit of thought behind your thoughtlessness.

Taking those last four words oh-so-literally, 3.1 Philip Lim did what brands do best: became a name and image which you instantaneously associate with a whole bunch of stuff. As the Spring Summer 2013 collection was modelled by a host of tousled, pouting perfections, it was like word association in our minds: New York, urban, urbane, relaxed, slouch, low-key romance, boygirl, ironic sheer, unintentional cinema trip, last-minute tickets to Munich. The list goes on.

This is exactly the kind of thing we want to be wearing in the lull between the AW13 shows and the countless press appointments of the coming weeks. Some cheeky sheer layers from Topshop Unique with and oversized Reiss blazer, and Philip Lim’s famous floral slogans. With flats. Not just any flats either, skin-peeping Givenchy sandals. Sling on a subtle and sexy metallic Pashli bag from the man himself and you’re ready to relax in style.

It’s laid back, laid back. It’s luxe at first sight.
