NAME: Mia Goth (that’s her real name, too)
FROM: South London, but has Brazilian/Canadian parents.
SIGNATURE STYLE: Thrift store chic, distressed/unfinished knits, super skinny jeans, bare-faced beauty, tousled locks and a couple of investment shoes and bags.
YOU MIGHT RECOGNISE HER FROM… the recent coverage of Shia LaBeouf’s split with long time girlfriend Karolyn Pho. Rumour has it that his romantic attentions have moved to his current co-star, Goth, after pictures of them walking together before Thanksgiving were released, and following the news that LaBeouf has already met her parents. Plus, the fact that the sex scenes between the two are meant to be explicit and 100% authentic add fuel to the fire.
WE LOVE HER BECAUSE… she balances being edgy and easygoing. She was scouted at London’s Underage Festival by a prominent photographer, but interned at her office before being signed to Storm models. Despite being featured in several magazines and shoots, including a Charlotte Hadden short fashion film for theones2watch, with Kelly Osbourne’s angular ex Luke Worrall, she seems to shrink away from the usual traps of fame, preferring a low key approach.
WE CAN’T WAIT FOR… May, 2013. Why? Because that is when her debut film, Nymphomaniac is released. Created by controversial writer and director Lars von Trier (Remember how crazy Melancholia was? Dogville? Antichrist? Yeah – that guy), it stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgård, Jamie Bell and of course, her love interest, Shia LaBeouf. Not one to watch with the in-laws though, it’s going to have that same can’t-look-can’t-look-away morbid fascination that Kubrik’s questionable sex filled drama Eyes Wide Shut provoked.
INTERESTINGLY, Goth desires to be read as well as watched on screen. If her promising acting career and budding modelling repertoire prove to be unfulfilling, she’s already got another dream job lined up: political journalism. An impressive departure from perfecting her pout.
