Sea of Ghosts is the personal style blog of Alicia Hannah Naomi, and one we check regularly. Alicia’s sea includes updates on the
jewellery she makes under her label
Drown, outfit shots in her unique, minimal style and random spots of inspiration, such as the saucy new
Belle Chassee underwear photos.
Not all of us fancy print on clashing print and colour on colour, so Sea of Ghosts provides a calming dip into clever ways to combine greys, black and urban prints. For instance, we never knew grey Doc Martins were so necessary until we saw
this post. There something very mature and ageless about the way she combines layers and a limited palette that’s modern and flattering, rather than grim or limiting.

Alicia says “I started blogging as a way to chronicle my personal style, and to help myself try to decipher what that style was and what style meant to me. My personal style and my blog has evolved a lot since the early days, now I chronicle just more than my personal style and use my blog primarily as a platform to share what inspires my life style; keeping me focused on my personal style, the way I decorate my space and how I design my jewellery.”

“For some people great style is innate but I don’t necessarily think that rings true for everyone. I need to stay alert and goal oriented with a steady stream of inspiration. The best blogs are the ones that speak honestly of the author. A blog should also be easily consumable on a visual level – minimal extraneous graphics and a streamline layout so the author can let the content speak for itself.”
Her favourite international labels are Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, Ann Demeulemeester and Helmut Lang. Her preferred Australian labels, where she is from, are Lui Hon, Alistair Trung, Alpha60 and Trimapee. “They all embody the beautiful fusion of bare minimalism and esoteric complexity, strong pieces with a distinct mood and industrial influences,” she says.
