Twin Magazine Issue 3

Last Thursday Bar Soju in Berlin played host to the launch party for issue 3 of Twin Magazine, the bi-annual clothbound, hardback book featuring fashion, art and culture which looks as good on your coffee table as in your hands. Led by Creative Director Becky Smith (founder of Lula Magazine), the rest of the team is comprised from a hand picked selection of the crème de la crème of the industry right now: Aimee Farrell of Vogue, Celestine Cooney of Dazed & Confused and Francesca Gavin of Another Magazine. Becky describes Twin as a tool that seeks to “peel back the veneer of plastic in most women’s mass – get back to basics with an old fashioned beautiful book.”

The evolution from Lula to Twin seems as natural a progression as any woman would normally experience, from girlish coquette to sassy, sexy grown up. This issue see’s the tagline of ‘ambition’ and features input from Immodesty Blaize, Sloane Crosley, Simon Rich and Kristin Hersh to name but a few; as well as a stunning shoot with girl of the moment Dree Hemingway.

The party in Berlin was full of the usual event goers, and the location in a Korean Chicken emporium added an extra dimension of quirk to proceedings. With karaoke taking place in the ladies loos it is evident that this is a magazine that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is of course an excellent thing. These are a group of talented women, taking charge and producing beautiful content every 6 months whilst retaining an air of togetherness and vital sense of humour; in an industry so over-saturated with inter-gender rivalry, it’s refreshing to see.

Twin is available online from their website Twinfactory.co.uk as well as selected stockists worldwide and priced at £15.00.
